Most parents earnestly yearn to know how to love and guide their children so that they grow to be loving, stable, responsible adults. Christian parents also treasure the goal of their children growing to be mature Christians, strong and steadfast in their faith and service.
Yet this life-journey of parents together with their children can both be exciting, joyful and fulfilling, and yet at times also worrisome, troubling and even heart-breaking.
Parents' Corner is a guided support group at ESCCC for parents and which adheres to Christian principles. We follow a process of mutual support and learning, confidential sharing and discussion, and prayer - all enriched by semi-structured studies of selected texts by Christian authors.
Having covered Bonding with your Teen through Boundaries (Hunt and Capehart) over the last 2 years, we have just embarked on the study of How to Really Love your Adult Child (Campbell and Chapman) for 2016.
Our group meets in the main Sunday School Room on the 2nd Sunday of each month (unless otherwise notified), after the Sunday Service.
It commences with a light lunch from 12.00 pm to 12.30 pm (with a $5 donation pp which goes towards the Church Building Fund), followed by discussion and sharing. We aim to conclude by 2.00 pm.
New members are always welcome, bearing in mind that in 2016 the group is particularly aimed at the needs of parents with children between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
